Friday found us starting out on the Exhibit Hall floor again. You could spend the whole show enjoying the costumes and never get bored.

I bumped into the awesome Tony Kim – @Crazy4ComicCon, and his even more awesome coat made entirely of 11 Comic-Con bags. It’s meant to be an homage to Doctor Who’s 11th doctor.

Remember this guy, he may pop up again on Sunday.

While walking the hall, we were given the chance to record a chapter for the World War Z audio book. It’s unlikely that we are about to be discovered as professional audio book narrators, but it was interesting to see how it works.

Now’s probably a good time to point out that dress. Seriously…take a look at that Tardis dress!! The only thing better than wearing an amazing costume at Comic-Con is going with someone wearing an amazing costume. You get all of the great conversations and fun interactions with none of the discomfort. Thanks for taking one for the team, Ashley.

She even got stopped on the show floor by a professional costume guild later that afternoon and was recognized for it’s awesomeness.

Next up was the Godzilla Experience.

Friday

I had heard about it the week before and scored some timed tickets online. The first half of the exhibit was set pieces that transformed the warehouse into a Japanese street.

The second half was a no camera zone. Let’s just say, I have seen the monster and it looks awesome. I have hope for the movie. The experience itself was a lot of fun. At one point, we were quickly “evacuated” to a control room where we were told to quickly “Press every button you can find!!!!”. Seriously, it’s like they made it for me.

From there, we popped over to the Geek & Sundry Lounge. The YouTube web series channel had taken over a bar and transformed it into a board gaming lounge. We grabbed a drink and a seat while Wil Wheaton played Settlers of Catan at the next table.

Felica Day arrived soon after to play a bit herself.
Friday

We enjoyed some fun conversation with the group at our own table, and learned how to get into the party at the lounge later that night.

Ready for a bite, we headed out and stumbled across the TBS free cereal lounge. Yep, mix your own cereal creations with all the toppings you could want.
Friday
Do not judge my Puffs and marshmallows.

Video games and TBS shows were there to pass the time while we waited and ate.
Friday

We wrapped up the afternoon in the Exhibit Hall where we were treated to a John Barrowman sighting.

Captain Jack!

As we headed back to the Gaslamp District for the evening, we bumped into Wil Wheaton again and his wife Anne. There was only a moment so I played my best card for getting his attention for a minute…I let him know I had seen him in a celebrity Curling (yes, curling) tournament a few weeks ago and thought he had kicked ass. That was just random enough to get him to stop for a second and trade a little conversation. FYI, turns out he enjoyed that match so much he’s joined a curling league.

Next we passed the San Diego Police Department set up with a fundraiser in the middle of the street. For a donation they would be happy to “arrest” you for the enjoyment of your friends and family.
Friday
All money went to one of their community outreach programs.

Finally we ended up back at the Geek & Sundry lounge for the party. We passed the short wait by joining in on some games with the folks waiting in front of us. So much fun.

Once inside, there was much dancing and great conversation. Ashley got to bump into Alexis Denisof and let him know how much she loved him in Much Ado About Nothing. I got to chat with a software engineer from Twitter about social media and women in technology…and Doctor Who.

…and at one point the DJ jokingly played “Amish Paradise” while an attendee who happened to be cosplaying an Amish youth, owned the floor.

The video is awful and you probably had to be there, but it was highly entertaining.

All that dancing left us happily waving down a rickshaw to get us back to the parking garage.

Day 2: More Success
